What is Reiki?

Reiki, meaning "Universal Life Force Energy," is a Japanese healing art where the Reiki practitioner uses their hands as a channel for healing energy, which amplifies the body's natural, biological intelligence to heal. Healing energy is not something that can be forced, so you will receive what you are ready for, whatever and wherever it may be. 

Reiki is performed by placing the hands in specific positions, either with slight, gentle touch or hovering close over the body. By activating your body's relaxation response and promoting self-balance, Reiki can help to heal your body on a very deep level. Reiki sessions are performed fully clothed with the client lying down or sitting up, whichever is most comfortable for you.

How can Reiki help during the childbearing year?

Reiki treatment might be a great fit for pregnant people and new mothers who are seeking a more holistic approach in regards to methods that help with relaxation, balance and overall well-being. Reiki can provide harmonious benefits for both the mother and baby, as it is safe and natural. Reiki sessions can help to promote a happy, healthy, centered and balanced pregnancy. As you navigate your postpartum experience, Reiki can provide support for you, whatever your recovery looks like, as well as promote both physical and emotional healing for difficult birth experiences.
  • Prenatally: can ground and balance the birthing person and help to clear any blockages, imbalances or trauma that might interfere with the birth process
  • Postpartum: can help with the fourth trimester transition, promote recovery and the healing process, release trauma stored from the birth and provide extra energy to care for oneself and the baby
  • Cesarean birth: can speed the recovery and healing process
  • Newborns: safe and helpful to promote overall well-being
